From 2014, young people have had to continue their education or
training beyond 16 years, but this does not mean they must stay at
school/college. They can start an apprenticeship, earn a wage while they
learn and continue with their education, gaining further qualifications
and valuable experience. Qualifications in Apprenticeships are the same
as those in Full-Time Education.
We would like to invite you and your son/daughter to attend Herefordshire
Group Training Open Evenings being held on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday
20th February 2019. Drop in any evening, between 4.00pm and 7.00pm at our
offices in Holmer Road, Hereford HR4 9SX.
The evening is about apprenticeships – real jobs with real training and
employment. The evening provides an opportunity to look at our Training
Centres, speak to local employers, current apprentices and staff. Find out
what career opportunities are available. We have apprenticeship vacancies in
accountancy, business administration, customer service, engineering and
With over 200 vacancies across Herefordshire and Worcestershire each year,
there has never been a better time to get an apprenticeship.
You will be able to talk to local employers’ actively recruiting apprentices and
their current and past apprentices, across a wide range of job roles and find
out what career opportunities are available.
An apprenticeship is nationally recognised and helps young people gain
qualifications and real employability skills from Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) all
the way to Degree Level and without inheriting thousands of pounds of
student finance debt!! Qualifications achieved ‘on the job’ are valued more by
most employers, than those achieved in a classroom.
Still not sure? During the Open Evenings, you will be able to talk to the team
who help young people into apprenticeships, they will be able to offer you
information, advice and guidance and answer any questions you may have.
If you are unable to come along to the event, but would like more information,
